 Scientists at Neptune and Company, Inc. (Neptune) apply state-of-the-art methods in quality assurance, data science, and risk assessment to find technical solutions to difficult problems. We partner with a variety of private, non-profit, and government organizations to produce practical, defensible, cost-effective solutions in the arenas of energy, environment, health, food, and climate change. 

We are seeking a Full Stack Web Developer to join our team in either Lakewood, CO or Los Alamos, NM. Our software team works with clients to build scalable, high-quality web solutions for challenging environmental problems.  We prefer someone who can work on full stack solutions, but if you’ve been focused on just the front end or back end, please apply if you have solid programming experience and an eagerness to develop your skills.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate with a variety of scientists, statisticians, and software developers to identify functional requirements and architect web solutions for complex decision problems
  • Development using both Javascript and Python stacks
  • Work with a variety of web technologies including React, Redux, ExtJS, Node.js, Flask, and Django
  • Design REST APIs to connect data sources to user interfaces
  • Work with a variety of database technologies including PostgreSQL, CouchDB/PouchDB, Neo4j, and indexedDB
  • Implement statistical and machine learning algorithms in Python or R
  • Learn new web technologies

What you need to apply:

  • B.S. in computer science or related field
  • Experience with front end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript toolkits (React, ExtJS, etc.)
  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies
  • Solid programming experience in C/C++, Java, Python, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with Agile software development and software best practices (unit testing, continuous integration, etc.)
  • An interest in environmental science

What will set you apart:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, or related field
  • Background/interest in statistics, machine learning, or environmental science
  • Experience with R programming
  • Strong interest in staying up-to-date with the latest development practices and technologies
